And so it begins...

That is what $500 worth of fertility medication looks like (in case you were wondering.) Its 4 injections & 10 pills.

 I have a friend who is doing IVF and the meds are $3k. 

So I can't really complain. I feel a little bit weird even making a big deal out of it. 

I'm in a good place right now, mentally, I think. 

I'm getting out more & doing more stuff. I'm drinking more, tasting different foods, creating friendships & having a lot of new experiences I'm not sure I would if I wasn't going through this.  

It's different, and it's a good thing from all of this. Every cloud has a silver lining :) 

That was just because I felt like throwing out a pic from my RE's office. We were there for my "baseline" scan. They're big fans of the nuvaring (apparently there are less cysts w/ the nuvaring. Besides sticking your hand in your vagina, it's not so bad. See the DivaCup post for thoughts on that.) And yes, those are my naked knees under that pretty purple drape, in case you were wondering. You can tell its a female oriented practice... Even the stirrups & drapes coordinate, lol.

Holy technology batman! It's one of the cooler things about the process. And the soft, calming background music. (Side note, my OBGYN's office has a big screen tv available for my uterus & ovary viewing pleasure.Time to step up your game RE.) 

So tomorrow I take 10 Femara pills. I have an u/s follow up next week &then Based on that I start a round of injections. Then we wait & see what happens.

I'm supposed to take a HPT (home pregnancy test) today. But, um, I'm most definitely surfing the crimson tide (channeling my inner Cher -from Clueless, not the singer.) and I was on the NuvaRing for 4 weeks before that. So no, I'm not wasting any more $$ on those stupid tests. 

I don't know what I'll do if it works. That's a situation I've never had to deal with. I don't think I'll blog about it for awhile. It definitely won't be on FB for a very long time. We don't even want to tell our family until 12 weeks (that's been discussed amongst ourselves already.) 

We'll see. If you're the praying type, please send lots of prayers up for a friend going through IVF. And for a us :)
